Ze Almighty Resolution Run

I semi-decided a few weeks ago that one of my 2011 resolutions would be to complete a race every month of the year.  When I hopped online to try and see what kind of "Resolution Runs" were happening in my neck of the woods, needless to say I was a little taken aback by the fact that Austin, TX DOES NOT HAVE A RESOLUTION RUN ON THE 1ST.

Despite the fact that Austin tops the charts for being so thin, fit, healthy, and a libido like mad... There isn't a ritualistic gathering of sweaty peers warranting cursing and unnecessary chafing whilst ringing in "the new year."  Seriously.  Austin, I demand a refund.  Or a cookie.

Apparently the Mayor is attempting to cobble together a Resolution Run on January 3rd.  I just received notification of which via Facebook about an hour ago.  The complete and utter lack of advertisement or fore planning is astonishing.  There isn't even a website with details.  Although I have the day off on the 3rd, many Austinites do not.  I'm seriously disappointed.  This is bunk.

How am I supposed to be all smug and self righteous turning down my third glass bottle of champagne because "oh, I have a race in the morning."  *Insert pinky extension and hoity toity attitude here*

I'm starting to think that I should just sign up for the Resolution Run in Round Rock just north of Austin.  I just hate the fact that I'll have to drive up there :-(.  Races are so much more fun when I can bike to the start line.

  1. That is REALLY surprising given how healthy Austin is supposed to be. What if you organize your own with a few friends? Or you could join in Adam's (www.theboringrunner.com) virtual race...
